Here’s my reading list for the month of March:
Upstream: The Quest to Solve Problems Before They Happen by Dan Heath. This is a new book that just came out and the first that is written by Dan without his brother as the co-author. As
PREPARING FOR THE UNEXPECTED
Frequently, it’s not the worst-case scenarios that end up hurting companies and organizations; it’s the unknown factors that were never considered. One known factor of business is that unknown factors will pop up. Here are some tips that leaders can use to both anticipate and prepare for the unexpected.
RANGE: WHY GENERALISTS TRIUMPH IN A SPECIALIZED WORLD
We live in a world of specialization. Kids are starting earlier and earlier to specialize in a particular sport, colleges have more and more specialized degrees. The question is, does this specialized focus actually make us better?
FOCUS ON THE RHYTHMS
Most of us have areas in our life that we want to change or grow in. Change typically happens in our lives in two primary ways.
The first way is through a substantial event.

CLICHÉS AND BUZZWORDS
Before we get started here, let’s distinguish between a “buzzword” and a “cliché.” A buzzword is usually 1-3 words, and it’s something that really has no value when said -- or, conversely, it has 1,000 different meanings to people that might hear it. A good example of a buzzword is “synergy.”
GROWING WITH YOUR BUSINESS
Entrepreneurs start a business with the intent on growing them. However, we often underestimate the complexity that growth brings. As you grow, there becomes more and more moving pieces to juggle. As your team grows, it becomes more complicated relationally than when it was just you.
THREE LEADERSHIP STYLES
There are three basic approaches to leading those who are on your team:

MALCOLM GLADWELL'S TALKING TO STRANGERS - BOOK SUMMARY
This book is very little about how we talk to strangers and is more about our views, ideas, biases, and beliefs that we have when we encounter strangers. As we are accustomed to, Gladwell is a fantastic storyteller with a considerable repertoire of examples to weave thru his ideas.
FINDING SUCCESS AS A REMOTE WORKER
In the early 2000's, the thought was that in the next 20 years, everyone would be working remotely. With new technology and a generation that loved freedom by 2020, everyone will be rolling out of bed, walking to the couch, logging on, and they would be off to work.
TIPS FOR THE LEADER OF REMOTE WORKERS
One of the big ways the work environment is changing is that if we believe in this "war for talent," sometimes we're going to hire people who live hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of miles away. Over the last 20 years we have seen an incredible rise in the amount of people who work from home. It gives employees greater freedom, some say it increases productivity, and it appears to appeal to millennials who say that flexibility is a major factor in the job they choose.
MAXIMIZING THE MORNING HUDDLE
Many dental offices start the day with a morning huddle. In some offices, these are a real positive and productive experience, while in others, they can be not only unproductive but a complete drag for all involved.
HAVING THE BEST CLINICAL SKILLS WILL NOT PRODUCE AN ELITE PRACTICE
Having the BEST clinical skills will not produce an elite practice. This is NOT a statement that most dentists like to hear. You are highly trained, have taken the best courses, studied under the top professionals in the industry and yet, unfortunately, most patients can’t tell the difference during a comprehensive exam.
WHAT CAN AGENTS LEARN FROM IBUY PROGRAMS?
iBuy, or iBuyer, programs are changing real estate in numerous ways. It seems like almost every week, a new iBuy option or variation is being rolled out.
