Proverbs 20

Most churches and pastors don't encourage us to think deeply about politics. In fact, in many churches, I have heard leadership say that political issues are "not what we are about" or "should be avoided" while at church. The problem with that is, the Bible is full of information about politics. Most of the Old Testament is written for a nation and addresses issues of governmental ethics. In fact, it could be that the Bible says just as much about governmental ethics as it does personal ethics.

God wants to see His rule and reign, not just in our hearts, but in every domain of life. This refers to education, relationships, finances, parenting, and even politics.

God is not only the answer to our personal sin but also the answer to inflation, taxation, markets, and private property. His works are both eternal and temporal.

If Jesus is not the King over kings, then what is he the king of? Muslims understand this. They see that if God is not the God of all, he is not a god at all. That's why they have banks, schools, governments, etc., that are guided by the principles of Allah. It's because they see him as the highest and wisest authority.⠀

Kuyper said "There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!"

Whole domain would include the government. Today in Proverbs 20, reflect on what the Word says to rulers and kings. May our leaders humbly heed its guidance and pray that our leaders will walk in Godly wisdom.⠀
